Dan Cooperman was the former Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Oracle Corporation (1997-2007) and Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Apple Inc. (2007 – 2009). Following his retirement from Apple, Dan was Senior Counsel at DLA Piper LLP , a global law firm. Dan has a nearly 40 year career in law and business, highlighted by his in house experience. Throughout his career he has focused on issues related to corporate governance, risk management and conflicts in the boardroom, as well as the role of the general counsel and management of global corporate law departments. He is a strategic adviser to Institutional Venture Partners, an active angel investor and a board member of several other private technology based companies. Dan is a Fellow at Stanford’s Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Center for Corporate Governance and a Lecturer at Stanford Law School. Currently a member of the Advisory Board of Best Lawyers, Dan is a past president of the Association of General Counsel and has served on the board of various trade associations in the software industry. Prior to joining Oracle as General Counsel, Dan had been the Silicon Valley office managing partner at the law firm of McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen, LLP and a consultant in strategic planning at McKinsey & Co. He received his J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Stanford, and graduated summa cum laude with highest distinction in Economics from Dartmouth College.
