Amidst an array of leadership roles in business, IT, information security and risk management at a variety of organizations, Deborah Dixson has spent fourteen years at Best Buy over the course of several tours of duty. She returned to Best Buy in 2015 as Senior Vice President, Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). In preparation for her retirement in February 2018, Deb partnered on the creation of a new Enterprise Risk & Compliance organization that combined previously disparate teams charged with managing risk under a unified umbrella, allowing for a more comprehensive view of risk for leadership and the Board. For the last six months of her tenure Deb served as an advisor to that organization.
During her previous time at Best Buy, Deb became the organization’s first Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and set up the original Information Security team. She established a board-mandated Global Information Security office and governance that set the foundation for a holistic, sustainable approach to security.
Prior to her CISO role, Deb utilized her background in CRM, system design, development and deployments in a number of roles, including Vice President, Business Information Officer with IT responsibility for all of Retail and eCommerce.
In between her roles at Best Buy, Deb served as Global CISO beginning in 2010 for Delhaize, a grocery retailer based in Brussels with 1,500 stores along the east coast, post a credit card breach. During her last three years at Delhaize, in addition to the CISO role, she was Chief Information Officer (CIO) of U.S. operations. In this capacity, she led the U.S. team through a large organizational and technology transformation initiative.
She also spent time with the signature capture device manufacturer, Ingenico where she was responsible for the custom development on Ingenico devices, working with customers around the globe on securing credit card data.
Throughout her career, Deb has demonstrated success in leveraging a business-minded approach to information security and risk management, creating sustainable cultural change and earning board and audit committee trust. She currently serves as an advisor to security and technology professionals and organizations.
